Composition of multi-layer parquet

Also known as engineered parquet, multilayer parquet consists of three or four layers that are laid one on top of the other, these strips being made of wood or wood panels.

First, there is the top layer (or wearing layer) which is made of the selected wood species (European or exotic). This is the visible portion of the parquet floor. This layer must have a minimum thickness of 2 - 2.5 millimetres. Note that layers up to 8 millimetres can be found, which then allows the surface to be sanded.

Underneath the wear layer there is a layer of high density chipboard or plywood and a lower underlayer (or counter-layer), the presence of which contributes to the stability of the parquet.
Also worth mentioning is the top layer on top of the wearing layer. Depending on the type of wood, it may consist of a sealer or a protective varnish. By the way, it should be pointed out that this finish is usually provided in the factory.

In the multi-layer parquet range, there are a multitude of wood species, the most common being oak, bamboo, teak, walnut, wenge, merbau. Design, sturdy, aesthetic, economical...: multiple qualities!

The price per m² (excluding installation) varies between 50€ and 150€ depending on the quality of the wood species and the finish.
