A great advantage of a hard vinyl floor is that you can lay the floor on almost any surface without complex subfloor preparation (levelling). Without seeing the joints of the underlying tile floor. Without seeing the unevenness of the subfloor.
What is LVT or vinyl flooring?
Many different terms are used for vinyl flooring. However, many are actually interchangeable names for the same thing. LVT simply stands for 'luxury vinyl tiles', which is sometimes referred to as 'vinyl floors' or even 'PVC floors'. Vinyl sheet and linoleum are usually available in rolls and glued to the surface, while LVT floors come in easy-to-handle planks or tiles that can be installed "floating" (i.e. without glue) or "glued".
One thing is certain: vinyl is no longer synonymous with old-fashioned, plastic-like floors that you remember from your grandmother's house. The latest flooring innovations have made vinyl a solid and practical alternative to laminate and even hardwood floors.
Composition of vinyl flooring
You can choose between two types of vinyl flooring: flexible and rigid. Each type has its own unique composition and properties.
FLEXIBLE VINYLE FLOOR
A flexible vinyl floor consists of a top layer, a decor layer, a vinyl core, a stabilizing layer and a vinyl backing.
- . High-quality top layer: this protective layer with anti-scratch and stain technology protects your floors from dirt, stains and scratches, and makes them easy to clean and maintain. The extra matte finish guarantees a natural look and feel.
- . Finely printed vinyl decor layer: the high-quality printing technology used for this layer gives your vinyl floor its unique and authentic look.
- . Strong, impact-resistant vinyl core: this waterproof and noise-reducing vinyl core provides comfort and durability.
- . An extra stabilizing layer: this layer contains super-dense glass fibres to give the vinyl floor extra dimensional stability.
- . A highly efficient impact-resistant vinyl backing: this layer guarantees a perfectly balanced floorboard, which prevents cupping or warping.
RIGID VINYL FLOORING
Rigid vinyl floors consist of a top layer, a vinyl layer and a composite core.
- . Flexible vinyl layer: this waterproof and noise-reducing flexible vinyl core provides comfort and durability.
- . Rigid composite core: This layer consists of two glass fibre reinforced layers that prevent the floor from tipping over and the levelling of the subfloor is not necessary.

WHY CHOOSE VINYL?
If you are looking for the right resilient floor for your home, you want something that looks good and lasts long. These are two reasons why many customers choose vinyl. Vinyl floors are waterproof and some brands offer fully waterproof vinyl floors. It's perfect for areas that are prone to spills, humidity and wetness, such as bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms and basements. Vinyl is durable enough for areas with heavy traffic in the home and is resistant to scratches and stains. In addition, cleaning and maintenance are easy. Modern vinyl floors are also resistant to noise. What does that mean? It means you're less likely to hear that crackling sound when you sneak to the fridge in the middle of the night. Newer vinyl floors have an attached underlay that minimises noise and makes the floor more comfortable to stand on for long periods of time. It's also warmer than your standard tile floors. Finally, vinyl flooring is budget-friendly. Luxury vinyl plank and luxury vinyl tile floors allow you to achieve the look and feel of hardwood, porcelain, marble or stone at a fraction of the cost.
